Product Selection
Guide
SNF Floerger supplies the
most complete selection of polymer products available from any
single manufacturer. We are committed to offering you a product line
broad enough to meet all of your customers’ application needs.
Proper product selection, of course, is the critical first step
towards successfully selling and retaining polymer business. With
hundreds of different products in our line from which you can
choose, selecting the one product that will provide the most
cost-effective performance for your customer’s particular
application--and at the same time meet your profit goals--can
sometimes seem a real challenge.
We developed this Product Selection Guide to help you simplify that
task. It provides recommended starting points for the most commonly
encountered applications in a wide variety of markets. These
recommendations are based on our technological expertise and proven
field experience.
In addition to the applications discussed in this guide, SNF
manufactures a wide variety of polymers for process applications--e.g.,
retention, drainage, and strength aids for paper processing; and
thickening and sizing agents for textile printing, among others. If
you are pursuing business in these markets and need guidance for
product selection, please contact one of our Resale or Market
Support Managers.
How to Use This Guide
For each application, the first product listed (in bold print) is
the one with which we recommend you begin your testing. Where
appropriate, we’ve indicated equivalent products in alternate
forms--i.e., powder, emulsion, and solution.
For some applications, it may be necessary to feed an anionic or
non-ionic, emulsion- or powder-form, flocculant-grade polymer in
combination with one of our coagulant-grade polymers or blends. In
these cases, the combination treatment is enclosed in a ruled box.
Below each product-of-choice recommendation we’ve also listed, where
appropriate, alternative products we recommend you test if the
primary product does not provide desired results. These
second-choice recommendations--in smaller, black type--are listed in
descending order of preference (with equivalent products in
alternate forms again indicated where appropriate).
Remember we manufacture most of our polymer product lines in a wide
range of molecular weights and charge densities. So, once your
testing identifies the most appropriate product, we recommend that
you test various versions of that same product to pinpoint the one
that provides the most cost-effective results.
The polymer dosage required to achieve desired performance, of
course, will vary depending upon the characteristics of the water or
wastewater being treated. So, the optimum dosage can only be
determined through bench testing and plant trials.
If you need additional information or assistance with polymer
selection, testing, or make-down and feeding, please contact one of
our Resale Managers.
